5 Delicious Ways to Cook With Kale
Kale has recently become an extremely popular leafy green, mainly because of its “superfood” label and all of the health and nutritional benefits. But if you’re new to using kale, the options can be a bit overwhelming. Here are 5 great and simple ways to cook with kale.
1. Saute it
Make sure you’ve pre-rinsed your kale and have chopped it, removing the bitter stems. Add some garlic, olive oil or butter and saute it in a pan until wilted and tender. This takes about 10 – 15 minutes.
2. Crisp it
If you want a healthy version of chips, use kale! Sprinkle oil and your favorite spices, bake in the oven until crisp and you’ve got a delicious snack.
3. Blend it
Adding kale to a smoothie is a great way to get your daily greens in! Add a little and you won’t even notice it; add a bunch and you’ll get that healthy green color in your blender.
4. Steam it
Using your stovetop or microwave, steamed kale is super nutritious. Not the most flavorful use of the leafy green, this is an extremely healthy way to eat the vegetable. Remember to always rinse before cooking and add some spices!
5. Add it
Kale makes a great addition to already yummy recipes. Add it to your favorite vegetable soup, throw some in your salad, mix it with your spinach in a quiche. Whatever you already do with leafy greens, kale is a super food alternative.
