9 Easy Ways to Cut Calories with Vegan Foods

Try following any of the 9 easy tips below to cut calories from your diet while improving your health.

(1.) Substitute traditional dessert recipes such as brownies with lower calorie and more nutritious vegan recipe alternatives.

(2.) Try using avocado in dessert recipes instead of butter, lard, and other calorie-dense and unhealthy fat alternatives.

(3.) Eat a vegan brownie before a workout instead of a typical sugar-filled pre-workout shake.

(4.) Two servings of a healthy vegan dessert for breakfast is lower in calories and more nutritionally sound than pancakes, eggs, sausage, and other unhealthy traditional breakfast meals.

(5.) Instead of eating a healthy vegan snack with a glass of dairy milk, try lower-calorie soy or almond milk.

(6.) When baking cakes or pastries, try using sprouted spelt flour instead of wheat or corn flour, as it’s higher in nutrients and lower in calories.

(7.) Drink water or coconut water instead of juice or soda.

(8.) Instead of using eggs in a dessert recipe, try using avocado and soy milk mixed together as a substitute. It’s lower in calories and contains tons of heart-healthy fatty acids.

(9.) When baking to lose weight, try using organic vegan based whole food ingredients to substitute calorie-dense ingredients such as sugar, milk, eggs, and butter.

1/2 Cup of Dairy-Free Semi-sweetened Chocolate Chips
1 Cup of Organic Soy Milk
1/2 Cup of Organic Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
1/4 Cup of Agave Nectar
1/2 Cup of Coconut Sugar
1 Cup of Organic Sprouted Spelt Flour
1/2 Teaspoon of Sea Salt
1 Teaspoon of Baking Soda

(1.) To begin this recipe please preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Next, lightly grease a baking dish that is approximately 8×8 inches in size.

(2.) Using a high powered blender, mix together the smashed avocado, soy milk, agave nectar, and coconut sugar. Blend these ingredients until the final result is a smooth and consistent mixture.

(3.) Using a large mixing bowl, add the sprouted spelt flour, baking soda, organic cocoa powder, chocolate chips, and sea salt. Mix these ingredients together until they’re even and consistent. Next, pour the blender ingredients into your mixing bowl and stir them together with the dry ingredients. Continue stirring until your mixture is even.

(4.) Spread the final mixture out in your baking dish and then place it into the oven to cook for approximately 16-22 minutes, or until done. Let the brownies cool for 10 minutes before serving them. Eat them warm and enjoy.
