Healthy Breakfast Bake with Spaghetti Squash

People who are trying to cut out the calories and increase their intake of healthy proteins as well as vegetables will discover the delicious and nutritious benefits of a healthy breakfast bake with spaghetti squash. Spaghetti squash can sometimes be slightly intimidating. It has a hard outer flesh that is very similar to that of a pumpkin. A simple way to prepare spaghetti squash is to wrap it in a wet rag and microwave it for a few minutes. It will be hot when removed but the outer flesh will be tender. Individuals who do not prefer microwaves will get experience the same softened outer flesh by boiling the spaghetti squash for a few minutes. Cut the squash in half and remove the seeds. Drizzle with some extra virgin olive oil and bake on a cookie sheet for about 25 minutes at 350 degrees. When your spaghetti squash gently flakes away with a fork it is done. After removing all of your spaghetti squash into a heat safe baking dish you can begin adding other ingredients to create a healthy breakfast bake. Whisk up 4-6 eggs and pour them over the spaghetti squash. A healthier version will consist of only egg whites. Mix in some spinach, mushrooms, diced tomatoes and green pepper for a nutritious and delicious breakfast bake. Season with salt and pepper and bake at 350 for 20 minutes, or until the bake is firm. Shredded cheese can be added to the bake or sprinkled on top. Serve with some whole grain toast or sliced avocado for a filling and delicious breakfast for the whole family.
