A Healthy Alternative to Sour Cream Dip
Everybody wants to throw a party that their guests are going to enjoy and remember and there are plenty of things a host can do to ensure that. In most cases, the snacks are the determining factor that makes or break the party. The thing with party food is that it has several roles it must fulfill.
Party food, unless it is specifically a meal, needs to be extra easy to eat. Most hosts go with the standard spread of things like tiny sandwiches or hors d’oeuvres that are the perfect size to be skewered on a toothpick and gracefully eaten in a single bite. The finger-food main course is usually complemented with a crispy side like chips or crackers, perhaps even fresh vegetables, and something creamy to dip them into. Many dips, unfortunately, receive much of their flavor from fatty sources, such as sour cream. Many hosts have been making an effort to provide more health-conscious options, such as health white bean dip.
This simple bean dip combines cannellini beans with savory herbs to create a smooth, flavorful dip that even vegan friends can enjoy. The recipe includes one 15 ounces can of the beans combined with a garlic clove and a sprig of fresh rosemary. A sprinkle each of salt, black pepper, and crushed red pepper add some spice. Two tablespoons each of water, olive oil, and lemon juice round out the flavor and add moisture to provide a smooth texture. Preparations is simply a matter of giving the ingredients a spin in a food processor for about sixty seconds.
