Making Vegan Cheese at Home

You may have seen vegan cheese in the store, online, or maybe you did’t even know that it existed. Either way, making your own vegan cheese at home is fun, cheap, and yields a delicious end product.

Basic Vegan Cheese Recipe:

– 1 cup raw cashews
-2 tsp. lemon juice
– black pepper to taste (optional)
-salt to taste (optional)
-1/4 cup water

What to do:

-After soaking cashews at least an hour
-Pulse cashews with lemon juice, salt and pepper, for about 1 minute
-Add water and process until completely smooth

Nut free, soy free, dairy free paprika cheese:

-1 cup water
-1 cup oats
-1 sweet potato, steamed until soft
-1/2 cup nutritional yeast
-1 roasted red pepper
-1 Tbsp. smoked paprika
– 2 tsp. Sea salt
-1/2 tsp. white pepper
-1 tsp. onion powder
-1 tsp. garlic powder
-2 tsp. lemon juice
-1 cup water for blending


Agar thickener:

-1 1/3 cups water
-2.5 Tbsp. agar powder

What to do:

-Add all ingredients to food processor or blender, putting water at top and bottom
-Blend until smooth, and set aside
-In a sauce pan, add agar powder to water
-Bring to a boil, constantly stirring, then put on low, stirring until a thick syrup has formed
-Transfer agar to cheese mixture, and blend for thirty seconds
-Pour into a mold, and enjoy!
