Apple Pie is More Than Dessert With This Healthy Recipe

Apple pie is often considered a treat, but this recipe makes it a healthy choice for breakfast without compromising the decadent taste.

Apple Pie Oatmeal

Steel Cut Oats 2 Cups
Dark Brown Sugar 1/2 Cup
Medium Apple 2
Roasted Pecans 1/2 Cup
Cinnamon 1 Tsp
Nutmeg 1 Tsp
Salt 1 Tsp
Coconut Oil 1/4 Cup
Chia Seeds 1 Tbs
Vanilla 1 Tsp
Almond Milk 2 Cups

After preheating the oven at 350, first dice or slice your apples. Keep the pieces bite sized, but the shape can be flexible. Keep the peels on for added fiber and texture.
Next mix together oats, pecans, brown sugar, chia, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
Then remove half of this mix and set aside as topping.
Next add apples, milk, and vanilla to oats.
Then in a coconut oiled baking dish add wet apple mix and sprinkle set aside oats on top.
Bake in preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, then enjoy. The flavors will bring to mind apple pie on holiday, and the fruit, oats, and protein will give you the energy to tackle whatever comes your way that morning.

For additional flavor you can add a scoop of yogurt to the top when serving, and if you want to increase protein you can beat an egg into the wet apple mixture. Without the added egg this dish is vegetarian friendly.
