Top 10 Tips for an Athletic Diet

Whether you’re an athlete or you enjoy being active, there are foods that you should eat more than others and foods that you should avoid. Try to get more protein in your diet instead of carbohydrates and sugary foods. Drink as much water as possible instead of drinking tea, juices, and sodas. Limit fruits and vegetables to those that don’t have a high carbohydrate count. Eat four or five small meals a day. Eating larger meals often means that you’re going to be hungry at night before you go to bed or in the afternoon. Start the day with a healthy meal that includes a larger amount of protein because this will give you the fuel to get through the first half of the day.

Try to get as much fiber into your diet as possible because this will help to make the muscles healthy. Bake as many foods as possible. Eliminate cookies, chips and other junk foods from your diet because they are empty calories. Make sure you eat foods that have a high iron content, especially if you’re a female. Dark green foods and red meats that have a low-fat content are among the best to give you more iron during the day.
